SUMMER & AUTUMN HIGHLIGHTS

A brand-new programme and several new festivals are amongst the highlights of this season. Our MSB in focus trio programme, A Thousand Flexible Ways, debuted at the Saxon Shore festival in May, followed by performances for Music on the Quantocks, Music in Country Churches, Worcestershire Early Music, and Folkestone Early Music, and has made quite a splash. Here are a few comments from audience members:
  • The music on Friday night was out of this world!! I have never heard music like that, never been to a concert before and it was just transformational!! I felt that I had had 1000s of pounds worth of therapy in one night
  • Fantastic concert - Olly, Hannah and Toby are all unsurpassed in their fields and the whole was definitely greater than the sum of its parts.
  • We enjoyed every single minute of your Folkestone concert. Once again, we admired your playing and your effortless scholarly expertise, once again we were mesmerised by Hannah's outstanding singing and delighted by Toby's intriguing take on the role of the basso continuo. What a treat!
We also made our first appearance at the delightful Little Missenden Festival with our ever-popular Madrigal Reimagined programme, where photographer Robert Piwko took the beautiful photographs you can see here:

This recording  was made possible by generous grants from Continuo Foundation and Angel Early Music, as well as a number of private donations. We are extremely grateful to these organisations and individuals for their financial support

The programme features guest artists Hannah Ely (soprano) and Toby Carr (lute), and celebrates the inspired responses of composers and performers to the Italian madrigal. One of our favourite textures from this is the intertwining of voice and strings, heard here in an excerpt from Palestrina's Vestiva i colli.
